Hello, unknown internet deities of inmmesurable computer erudition.
I need help finding a new psu for my new rig
AMD FX 8530 BE 4.0 GHZ
GSKILL SNIPER CAS9 16 GB 1866MHZ
ASUS M5A97 PRO 970
ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 970 AMP EXTREME 4GB
3 WD HDD's totalling 2TB
The proccesor has a CoolerMaster Hyper T4 on but i think it should be negligible.

I'm currently using a CoolerMaster GX 650w
I heard that it's a bad psu and conflicting opinions on whether 650w suffices for this rig. I think it does but I want to upgrade to a 750w. Just for my peace of mind

My options are (I'm in Argentina so I can't pick from such a wide variety of psus)
Sentey 750W (EPP750-PS) Essential Plus Power 80 Plus
Thermaltake 750W Smart (SP-750P) 80 Plus
AeroCool 750W Black (VP-750)

Antec High Current Gamer M 750W Modular (This one breaks my bank, I'd like to avoid it unless the other ones might hurt the rig or performance or it's so good it'll bring my childhood dog back to life)

I need at least 3 6+2 pins.

I was thinking of the Termaltake because it has 4 6+2 pins and I need at least three for the VGA and the motherboard, but scouring the web I read that Thermaltake is a crapshoot; some of it's psu are great, some suck. And that the TT750 I can get has no over temperature protection
Is it important? Do the others have it? Heck, does my current one? It sounds like something they should all have. Doesn't it shut off as soon as it goes too hot?

What do you think?
I'd like to buy it this week
Thanks on beforehand!

Solution
You have a very high end GPU. You need a high end PSU. Period.

And aside from that, those other units are not only NOT high end, they are very low end Tier 4 or lower units that will likely damage your hardware over time, if not immediately.

I don't want something amazing, mind you. I justw ant something that will run without problems or damaging the hardware.
Here, the Antec is almost 300 dollars...
It's quite a bit on this lands.
Thanks for answering!!
None of the others are even an option?
Does the Antec have 3 6+2?

The motherboard CPU power connector will either be a 4+4 connector or an 8 pin connector along with a 4 pin connector. That way if your board has a four pin socket, or an 8 pin socket, you'll be fine. Do NOT use a 6+2 pin connector for the motherboard, if it will even fit. Do not try to MAKE it fit.

Oh, crap. Okay, I'll buy it this week. Friday, likely. Can I still play games in the interim or it it a big risk. It's been hooked like this for 3 days so far.

And this were the motherboard connectors i spoke of http://imgur.com/c3Jh7ez,eiDBOos,wXwSA3p
I think you were correct and that it's an 8pin

While we are at it, the antec will be usable on this mother, right?

If you can find another model listed at Tier 2B, 2A or Tier 1 on this list, of 600w or higher, it would be fine as well. Pay particular attention to the series and wattage though, as one model from a series may be good while another different capacity model from the same series might be made for them by a different company and not be.

I've procured the cash to buy the Antec. Is that good enough?
I don't want to keep hunching over the chart in desperation

You can play, I just wouldn't push it. I mean, it would probably bet better, of course, to not use that unit. But if you maybe turn down your settings and keep it at medium or lower settings and don't game it too hard it should be ok temporarily. Then again, if it starts acting weird or giving you troubles, just stop. Plus, I take no fault if it takes your hardware out by some freak occurance which it almost certainly won't, but has been known to happen in rare circumstances.

Okey dokey
Will not use it and haven't since you warned me off. Is the PC outside of games okay or should i just keep it off?
