I play WOW--Warlords of Draenor, and have been told by Blizzard that this new game does not support my Intel(R) Pentium(R) cpu G2020 @2.90ghz. I'd like to know if I can upgrade my current processor to a new one and which one would that be? Would it be more cost effective to just get a new computer?

right, we need to know the motherboard to be 100%. Before you attempt a CPU upgrade be absolutely certain the BIOS and chipset drivers are all up to date.
well you don't tell us your motherboard but...

you should be able to just plug in any i3-2xxx, i5-2xxx or i7-2xxx series cpu into that board, it's possible you can plug in any i3-3xxx, i5-3xxx,i7-3xxx series cpu as well (though you'll likely need to update the bios on your motherboard. since you didn't tell us which board you have thats the best i can do for you.

It really depends on your motherboard, but that is an Ivybridge processor, so in theory (if your motherboard supports it) you should be able to upgrade quite easily to a i5 3570(k) or i7 3770k (or really anything in the Ivybridge (not Ivybridge-e) Lineup for the LGA1155 socket type).

As others in this thread have stated, for the best processor compatibility, ensure your system BIOS is up to date.

Thank you very much. :bounce:

A couple hours after submitting this question, I realized I'd not given enough information, exactly what you've indicated that you need the motherboard designation. Unfortunately for me, that designation was to be supplied by the "O.E.M." or thru hard copy of info supplied by my computer's maker. I do not have that information, sigh. However, I will be optimistic and proceed with what you've provided. JimmyB1952
