so my sister recently started gaming. I'm thinking of buying her a budget gaming pc this christmas. she's not picky with the graphics (all low, 720p is fine for her) but she hates low fps (avg fps less than 30). Im only a novice builder so I would like to ask for some advice.

how much fps would a G3240 + GT740 1Gb DDR5 do on, lets say, AC4 Black Flag? (all low, no AA, 720p)
and also, do you think an A8 5600k APU + 8GB 1866 RAM would do better?
they're roughly the same price from where I live.

what do you guys think?

thanks. I live in the philippines, and in a far province. getting parts would be difficult. I'm only trying to build with parts that are available in our local stores. my budget would be around (if converted to usd) $300. and even if converted, your $300 pc, I'm sure, would not be $300 here in the philippines. imported pc parts are hella over priced here. but thanks anyway!

p.s. the 30-40 fps you were referring to, was that the intel build or the a8? which one do you think would be better if you added upgradability factors. like for example, if in the future i could get a gtx 760 for my sister's rig, would the g3240 bottleneck it? would an a8 + 760 be better off?

i would image you're better off getting a FX-6350 or similar priced i5. those would pair nicely with a 760 or even a cheaper one of the AMD 270(X)s. you won't notice much difference between 1600 or 1833 memory, so whichever is cheaper for the lowest CAS.

even paying a little more for shipping from somewhere else will more than likely save you quite a bit on better components. $250 for CPU & GPU combo is about the cheapest i''ve seen for any decent gaming. but, seriously i wouldn't call 720p with no effects decent gaming. might as well get her an android tablet.

...fx 6350, i5, gtx760, r9 270? I don't think you understand the "super budget gaming" part of my build. and shipping parts here in the phils would cost at least 20% of the price of the item in tax alone, and you have to think about shipping fees which also cost around 20-30 dollars more.

this statement is purely subjective. not all people have the luxury of living in 1st world countries. to most gamers here in the philippines, to be able to run games at playable fps in low settings is more than enough.

playstore does not have the games she wants to play
