808:
- $31, higher price
- 6 case fans: 2 front, 1 side, 1 back, 2 above
- no glass panel :(

685:
- $24, cheaper
- 3 case fans only: 1 front, 1 side, 1 back
- there's glass panel

point of interest:
- is more fans mean guaranteed cooler temp or not? besides the obvious more dust and consuming more power.

if no, then I'll get 685, coz I like to peek into my case from time to time, who knows something funny might happen in there. and it's cheaper obviously. also my GPU is MSI GTX 970 which is using the Silent Frozer V feature: the fans won't spin until 60C temp is reached. and I like to keep things at default setting. I don't like turning on manual profile fan. I don't like turning on MSI Afterburner. but sometimes a not-so-demanding game, yet not "light" either, makes the temp hovers between 59-60C and the fans will spin then stop, spin then stop. this is very annoying. so whenever I play something new, I always peek in and if I see that annoying behaviour, I'll turn on MSI Afterburner and turn on the manual fan profile while I play the game.

if yes, cooler, then I'll get 808. if much cooler temp is guaranteed with more fans, then I'll learn to live with MSI Afterburner, turning the program on b4 I start to play something new and watch the fan tachometer graph. I have 8GB of RAM anyway. would miss the cool glass panel tho.. and I can't check what's happening in there anymore. ah well...

thanks...

The 685 will offer more than enough cooling. And I personally love the look of that case, I wish I had known about it prior to my case purchase ;)

What is the fan spinning issue you're referencing too? The fans will always spin on the GPU, always. If they are not spinning, you have a problem. MSI afterburner is capable of controlling the fan speed without ever being "open". If you make a custom fan curve, it will always be applied to the GPU even when MSI afterburner is not open.

I don't know specifically about the MSI one but a lot of power supplies and even the Asus STRIX graphics cards have a feature where they won't spin until it reaches a certain load or temperature in order to keep the volume lower.

It's like having a passive cooler or power supplies without fans. Most of the time a power supply is nearly silent, but to get that extra quietness they just turn off the fan completely. Normally 20% is just fine but I guess its extra quiet this way.

But relating to his situation, I'm pretty sure the fans should spin at 60 C
