What is the reason for the huge price difference between these two:
Kingston Technology HyperX Predator 16GB Kit 3000MHz DDR4 Non-ECC CL15 XMP DIMM

Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4 2800MHz (PC4 2800) C16 memory kit for DDR4 Systems

Why is the Kingston memory only $289.99 while the Corsair memory is $499.99?

For the same reason a Corsair AX PSU costs 159.00 but you can get an EVGA G2 PSU, that's just as good or better, for 89 bucks. Corsair rides on their name. Plus, the Corsair RAM has a bit more advanced heat sink design and integrated sensors designed to work with the Corsair link utility, which I think is lame anyhow.

I'd much rather go with the Kingston at that price difference. Kingston manufactures their modules from start to finish while Corsair buys components from other manufacturers and then assembles their modules using a variety of source parts. There's probably a few other factors concerning the quality of materials or design of the Corsair module, but unless you're one of those guys with endless pockets who just has to have...

They are a well known and trusted brand.
