What would make games run smoother, more RAM or upgraded GPU?

I play games like DayZ, Far Cry 4, Skyrim, ect. I am upgrading my Ram from 4Gb to 8Gb soon and I was wanting to know if that would make games run smoother. I am looking for performance but quality at the same time. (more on the performance side)

Current Rig:
MSI 970A-43G
AMD FX-6100
ADATA Premier 1333MHz 4Gb
XFX Radeon HD 6670 1Gb GDDR5 (OC)

Solution

The graphics card will have a bigger impact in performance than the ram, but yes, you need to be running 8GB of 1600Mhz or 1866 Mhz memory.

I say 8gb of ram is enough (if u buy another 4gb), you should buy a new Graphic Card. cause Graphic card is more important than RAM and your Graphic card is not that powerful at all. if you buy something like r9 270x or 280 (if you want AMD cards only) you should be good to go. and your CPU is good enough.

I was going to buy a 280 and 8Gb of RAM but i was only going to buy RAM if it increased performance by a ton and save the money for a better GPU.

Yeah but I overclocked my ram to 1600mhz cl7. I have a friend that spent $2000 on a new rig and he said that more ram would probable make dayz run better. I for got to mention that i want more performance right now then quality. Quality is something that i cant afford in my situation so thats why i was only going to get ram and upgrade GPU later but if a better GPU is whats going to make games run smoother then i was going to get that instead of ram.

If I was to get a 2gb card would that be good? I don't have a ton of money to blow on a good card.

Yes, I would recommend a card with at least 2GB of memory.
Here's a 750Ti that is $100 after rebate. You should see a nice improvement in game performance for not much money.
