Memory Potential Incompatibility

I have a total of 8gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram clocked @ 1600MHz which is black. I want to add another 8gb of Corsair Vengeance ram at the same clock speed, however, the color would be red in order to spice up my colour scheme. I know this may seem like a stupid question, but, would the two sets of ram, same specs and same model, but different colours, be compatible?

As long as you pair them with equally colored "partners" in dual channel, you should be ok - Wow that almost sounded racist :O

What do you mean? I currently have 2 black 4gb dims in dual channell and I'm looking to add two more dims, red dims, of equal clock speeds and etc to get a total of 16gb in quad channel. I don't understand what you mean though.

Install them as follows:
DIMM 1 = Black
DIMM 2 = Red
DIMM 3 = Black
DIMM 4 = Red

or vice versa.

They might or might not play together, mixing DRAM is a crapshoot, they might play, they might not (at all) or they might not want to and can be 'helped' to play nice with voltage/timing adjustments - there are no guarantees

The color makes no difference, the simple fact that they are from different packages can and often does. There's no guarantees when mixing packages - even of the same exact model
