I have a total of 8gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram clocked @ 1600MHz which is black. I want to add another 8gb of Corsair Vengeance ram at the same clock speed, however, the color would be red in order to spice up my colour scheme. I know this may seem like a stupid question, but, would the two sets of ram, same specs and same model, but different colours, be compatible?

What do you mean? I currently have 2 black 4gb dims in dual channell and I'm looking to add two more dims, red dims, of equal clock speeds and etc to get a total of 16gb in quad channel. I don't understand what you mean though.

I doubt the colour of the heat sink makes it different DRAM.

So instead of buying another 8gb to upgrade, would it be better to buy a whole new dual channel kit of 16gb ram?
