I'm looking into building a new high end gaming PC but I'm stuck between getting an nvidia gtx 980 now or waiting a few months until AMD pushes out a new (maybe better) GPU and see whether it's worth it.

It would suck to get a GPU now and have an amazing one come out in only a few months.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I would take those benchmarks with a grain of salt that were posted earlier. Honestly I'd go with the 980. I bought myself 2 of them not even more than a month ago, I considered waiting for something else but honestly at this point it's more of a features game. Yes AMD's next cards WILL be compelling but at the same point I have an Nvidia Shield & I'm not willing to give up that small luxury, so I went with 980s (2 of them because I plan to get a 4k/1440p @ 144hz monitor as my next upgrade..). Believe me I'm not regretting these bad boys, they kick the crap out of anything! & run cooler and faster than my 780 which was my previous card.

I understand your dilemma but you have to keep in mind there will always be something new. I would suggest buying the card that fits your needs and budget now unless you have a firm release date for a new card you're comparing it to.
