i3 4150 or fx 6300 which works best with gtx 970. I want to play assassin's creed unity and farcry 4 like games on ultra settings. I want 30+ fps in all upcoming games also.

And i dont want to overclock cpu but may overclock gpu.....

Please provide benchmarks. My bet is you're looking at dual-threaded titles (i.e. older games). Otherwise, you'd be claiming that half a 3.5ghz haswell core is faster than an entire piledriver core at 4.5+ghz, which is laughably untrue. Hyperthreading helps a great deal, but not that much.

I agree an intel platform has a much better upgrade path, and if the OP wasn't asking what is better right now I'd be recommending that along with you.

He might lose a few FPS with the i3 over a faster clocked processor but it shouldn't be anything that he would notice unless he's benchmarking. A higher clocked CPU is recommended but more for future proofing than for bottleneck issues. I don't know anything about FX CPUs performance so I can't comment there.

i3 4150 or fx 6300 are about even in gaming terms if you want Ultra then a I5 4690K Overclocked or I7 4790K. Unfortunate that Assassin's Creed Unity is such a unoptimized mess and requires really good CPU and GPU to hold very high settings.

Overclocking the CPU is what you need in this case. Overclocking the GPU with either the I3 or the 6300 at stock speeds is mostly useless.

The closest you will get to a balanced system with these options is an overclocked 6300. The I3 has a locked multiplier and you can only get a minor speed bump from FSB tweaking.

Buy the 6300. Later when you can afford to, get an aftermarket cooler (the coolermaster hyper212 EVO is the budget standby around here) and overclock the processor.

In most titles a I3 4150 and FX 8350 Overclocked are pretty close, this is sad as the FX 8350 is basically the top CPU for AMD. The op would be better off picking the I3 and having a better upgrade path, Intel CPU's also have a much higher resell rate than the FX line so it is easier to recover some cost on a CPU upgrade later. If he or she is willing to spend $300+ on a GPU why leave yourself with a very narrow line of upgrades on the CPU side? The 970 Gtx will be a good card for 4-5 years and match with a I5 4690K or I7 4790K later on you would have a solid system for many more years than picking a FX which are struggling in titles now.
