Hi,
I recently put together a custom PC. (i5-4460, GA-H97-HD3, 1TB Seagate). It's the first time I'm doing this so any error could be have been caused by me:
I purchased an OEM copy of Windows 7 64-bit from eBay. I inserted it into the optical drive (Asus DRW-24F1ST), got into the BIOS and ran the setup normally. After extracting all Windows files, I got the error "Error 0x80070017", the files were either corrupt or missing. Apparently this is caused by the optical drive. Can anyone clarify?

Solution
this cd could have scratch on it see under also the files on it could be corrupted link to where you bought it it could be a copy and not a genuine one .

could be this too - i tried to install windows via usb stick and i had install problems
it turned out to be bad system ram cause windows places files on ram first durring install, then sets up hd for install. and if u get corruption errors it could be in the transfer between ram and hd if it's not the optical drive to ram or from damaged disk via optical drive to ram then to hd.
