Hi Toms Hardware guides and viewers. I want to build a gaming computer under 2000 US dollars and I want to go through newegg. under this paragraph I am going to post my selections but I wont post the CPU cooling because I want your opinions on what the best CPU cooling i should get for the CPU that I get and also if everything I posted is compatible with each other and what I should add or take off so here is my list.

I edited this post after receiving advice from knowledgeable people so now the CPU Cooler is on the list but if there is something better besides liquid cooling please post and also i changed the motherboard from a amd to an intel motherboard and also a amd CPU to an intel CPU and I also added a couple fans and a fan header splitter and i had to take the internal usb expansion off because now they are out of stock

Now "like I stated above" if you didn't notice I did not put in a CPU cooling system I wanted to ask you guys and girls what I should do for that for that specific case and CPU and also when I receive all of this will I have to update my bios and motherboard and if so where do I go or what do I do to do that and is the base components compatible? Now if its possible I am looking for a 200 mm liquid cooling because I know this CPU runs hot and I don't believe the case supports dual 120 mm fans and I don't want a 120 mm liquid cooling system but it does support dual 200 mm fans "I think" not that I am looking for dual 200 mm liquid cooling just stating that in case it might add to some suggestions. I have done some research and believe that all the components will work together but that's why I am here because I have never built my own computer before and I want an experts opinion and to see if there are things I need to add to it and also I am getting that specific motherboard because I like Gigabyte and it supports SLI (well IBuyPower says it supports it) if i want to do 2 GTX970s in the future. Please get back to me ASAP I am extremely excited and want to get this setup soon.

Save your money. If you are going to go for AMD, get this cpu instead.

FX 8350-essentially a similar chip but you save money and can overclock it and probably get nearly as much speed as the other chip.

Alas, I think if you are building now, go for an intel build. I'm an AMD fan, and socket AM3+ is being considered EOL, meaning what is there is there and we don't really expect more chips for that socket. Plus I think most guys consider intel just to be better performance right now.

Something like this will beat ANY FX system:

zeyuanfu with that setup can I get everything posted off of newegg. i trust newegg and have never been through anyone else. also i want to have 1000watt psu for more wiggle room in case i want to upgrade and also i think i want to stick with amd if im not mistaken the amd 8350 is a 4.0Ghz 8 core 8 mb cache and the intel i7 4790k is a 4.0Ghz quad core 8 mb cache and also the amd is 170 bucks at newegg and the intel i7 is 300 bucks. it seems the amd has the intel beat for performance and price just my opinion thats why im here at toms but i did see 2 gtx 970s that is a plus with that setup and not breaking 2k dollars. for some reason im stuck on a 2560 x 1080 resolution 27 or more inch widescreen monitor I just want a bigger screen and better field of view. Besides WoW I do play fps games and games like skyrim so fov is always a plus. I dont need an optical drive I have like 5 of them from previous computers and that 1956.76 price dosnt include all the other gadgets I want like lights, internal expansions, extra fans, speakers, media card reader and stuff like that. the max im willing to spend is 2300 no more and the gtx970 is a beast by itself so im not going to need 2 of them thats only if i want another in the future. so if i go with the amd 8350 what liquid cooling system am i going to need? will a simple 120mm liquid cooling system suffice and what motherboard will support the amd 8350 that also supports sli and crossfire if i decide to go for radeon instead?

i just looked up the intel i7 5820 which is better than the 4790k and i did a comparison to the amd 8350 and the amd 8350 blows the intel out of the water http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/448/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i7_i7-5820K.html i dont want to turn this thread into a discussion but i am forced to how is the i7 4790k better than amd 8350 besides hyper-threading? and what is a good cooling system for the amd 8350 no one has answered me yet on that?

Please, have a look: http://hothardware.com/Reviews/Devils-Canyon-Intel-Core-i74970K-Review/?page=6#

Even an old second generation i7 destroys the 8350. The same can be siad for high res gaming.

A Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO would do for the 8350, but as I said, don't go for the FX if you can get an i5 or an i7.

so for that link it shows me that the amd isnt a good gaming cpu even if it says its a better cpu on paper. that was for low rez gaming right? what about higher rez gaming like 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1080 the one on the link only shows 2 games that are at 1024 x 768 or is that even a factor?

I have an fx 8120, and I run it at 4.2ghz. It does fine and is a slightly older version of what you are looking at, still 8 core etc.

I'm an amd fan that is what i like to buy, but I'm telling you for your budget get the i7. It is going to do better for you. Unfortunately Amd does not have as good performance in many things. They are a fine chip, but for your money, I'm even saying get the Intel chip. I'm running amd right now in my gaming system. For the amount i paid it's great. But for what you're spending, get the i7.

ok so ppl are telling me to go intel and i have been doing research and it does look like the i7 is better than amd so im thinking of getting the i7 4790k the bad thing is its almost twice as expensive as the amd 8350 so is it safe to overclock it if i wanted to and I want liquid cooling for it so whats a good liquid cooling for the 4790k?

Yes, the 4790K is for overclocking, hence the ''K'' suffix. I wouldn't get a liquid cooler as the good ones are crazy expensive and the bad ones, well they're really bad. I'd get sixths, which has the most bang for your buck:

You don't have to get an i7 4790k just for gaming. I recently purchased one (not JUST for gaming) and, despite it performing VERY well in games, it is a bit overkill if you just want it for gaming. I mainly play CS:GO, league of legends and Call of duty Advanced Warfare but none of those games has pushed the i7 4790k over 30 percent load. Ofc if you want to stream (when i stream cod, cpu goes to 80-100 percent load) you would need one, but if you just want to game, an i5 4690k is a much more affordable and reasonable option.

what I am trying to build is a pc that can handle all games on and offline on max settings and still be able to get over 80fps on any game in any area of the game no matter how many people are around shooting spells or how many particles or shadows are being thrown around my screen without any fps stutter or screen tearing
