My current sysstem is as follows:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz

MOTHERBOARD: Asustek Berekely

RAM: 5GB DDR2

HDD: 500GB

GPU: Asus Nvidia Geforce GT 630

PSU: 350W

Here is my new build:

I'm using the same GPU and HDD temporarily.

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte 970A UD3P

CPU: AMD Fx6300

RAM: 2 x 4GB DDR3

PSU: EVGA 500W

CASE: Corsair carbide 300r

Thanks

Yes. The CPU is faster, and the motherboard is a lot more modern, which supports a lot of features.

Make sure your HDD is SATA. If it's IDE, you can't use it with the new motherboard.
Several problems with your reasoning:
1, OP didn't say he/she was going to play games
2, Thanks to the 22 nm lithography, Intel CPUs are considerably faster. Plus, the i3 has four threads, so that beats the 6300's six weak cores.
3, The upgrade path to an i5 would be possible with an i3, and they DESTROY FX CPUs in everythinge xcept for rendering.

But if you are building something like this why would you want it for anything other than browsing, playing games, or making stuff? Which all need more cores to run better. Also, you can actually overclock if you would feel so inclined.

Now you are the one that is implying that he is going to be gaming on it. :p
I just don't like the fact that you can't do whatever you want to the chip and only the most expensive I3 (which is 30$ more) can beat it and you can't overclock it.

well ! now a days most games are optimized to use four cores or more . dual core gaming is almost ending. fx 6300 has an unlocked multiplier and it beats the i3 in rendering . better go with the fx 6300 . but if u want to play mid level games and want to upgrade to i5 later then go with the i3 . but i think fx 6300 is quite good enough for games at least for next two years .

"Most new games do NOT need a quad-core. A Core 2 Duo is largely sufficient for BF4"

what an obvious lie . bf4 brings down core 2 duo e8600(fastest) to its knees even if its paired with a nice gpu!. almost all of the games today are optimized for using four cores!
