Hey guys so I was looking into buying some additional ram for my rig, however I ran into an issue. I currently have 2x4GB sticks of ram in dual channel in my MSI Z97 gaming 7 motherboard, from what I read my motherboard only supports memory in dual channel, so i was wondering if were to buy another 2x4GB kit of the same make, would it work? More importantly will there be any performance hits?

A definite Maybe - as USAFRetired said. There are no guarantees when mixing sets of DRAM, even the same identical model, you could pull 10 sticks right off the assembly line and maybe only find 4 that will all play together at spec. The DRAM that goes into a packaged set is tested so all work/play together
