When I connect my laptop to the internet over WiFi, it works fine, but when I plug an Ethernet cable into the router and into my laptop, it doesn't even detect the cable, I just stays connected to the router over WiFi. I would really like some help with this problem. I have 64 bit windows 8 if that helps at all.

When you plug in the cable does the light on the router light up saying it has a connection? Does the ethernet port light on the laptop light up to indicate a connection?

No - make sure ethernet is enabled in the bios and in device manager. If thats ok then try another cable.

I will check the manager and the drivers. My laptop doesn't have a light to indicate if the cable is connected. The connection symbol on my laptop says it is just connected to the WiFi, and not the cable. But I will check the drivers and such.
