Hi guys,

Today I have an issue I would really like fixed. My problem is my game windows keep minimizing. I am on my computer most of the day playing games (I always play in full screen) :p and it will only happen once or twice a day. Each time it does this it will minimize the game window and take me back to the desktop, I then click back into the game and then maybe 10-20 seconds later it will do it again and then it will stop. So each time it starts this it will always minimize my window twice. This happens for all games I play and has happened for a while now I just never got around to looking for a solution and when I did others on Google seem to have slightly different issues to me so I came to the lovely people of Tom's Hardware. I don't think it is an issue with my hardware however as I have upgraded almost everything in my computer and it still happens. Also my Operating System is Windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Yep.
I have yet to find the culprit but haven't looked too hard.

If you can't figure it out, use MSCONFIG to disable programs from starting until you find the cause.

Before that I'd try shutting down all programs in your SYSTEM TRAY including Antivirus.

This happened to me, and the solution was to look at the other applications. Something running in the background is stealing the focus. Have you installed an application or update recently? Anti-Virus programs are known to be the cause of this problem for many people.

I've got this as well, except it does it maybe once every hour or two. It also does it on non-fullscreen programs (e.g. firefox will lose focus so I'll have to click the window to start scrolling/typing again). The other day I was playing a game that ran in a small window and it lost focus, and I noticed that at the same time my desktop icons, which I'd dragged behind the game for a nice clean desktop (lol) reset their positions when it happened, though instead of going to the top left corner they went (I think) to the positions they had been in about 30 minutes beforehand.

It seems like whatever is causing this to happen isn't just a program updating and trying to get my attention, it actually is something to do with my graphics card's drivers - prime suspect right now is Nvidia Geforce Experience, which came with the laptop (Gigabyte P25). Disabled it in the task manager startup but it still has a service which launches it anyway, which is pretty stupid, so I'm going to have to uninstall it. Hopefully in a day or two I can let you know if it solved my problem. Seems like my problem is slightly different from yours, but still, if you have Geforce Experience try uninstalling it (I have almost no programs installed on this comp)

Edit: Ah, sorry, I'm on Windows 8 as well as having a fairly different problem from you. Still, I guess my advice still stands: try to work out if it's also losing you focus on windowed applications, see if it resets recent desktop icon movements, and be extra suspicious of Geforce Experience. Hope you can use that to help you work out what's causing it and disable it
