Hİ everyone, İ bought Asus Z97 A mobo recently. İ also have an electro guitar. So the question is Can İ plug it into the mobo or should İ buy additional sound card? and if I can: is it good idea to use PC as an amplifier?

I can only tell you from my personal experience: recording guitars via direct cable to any sound card sounds very "thin" as compared to recording it via professional dynamic microphone placed in front of your amp (provided that you have a quiet room, of course). In most cases it also requires a preamp. And such mics are best when used with professional sound cards, which don't have to be expensive if you pick them right. Just make sure they include a mic preamp or get one separately.

You can use PC as an amplifier, but this sound is nowhere near the real amp. Even the cheap ones beat this combo hands-down.
