Hello, I am going to upgrade my pc a little bit, so i want to ask if i will buy everything good.

I am going to upgrade my old DDR2 ASUS motherboard into a new ASUS A58M-K AMD motherboard and 2 new 4 gig ram sticks. I want to ask a question, can I keep my processor and graphics card for my new motherboard, will it work? (sorry if I ask silly questions, cause I am totaly fresh at upgrading PC :D)

Solution

You will be stuck on a dying socket. That board supports the old 775 socket. How about this.

Look for a H81 board, a I3 4XXX, and atleast 2x4gb of ram. And as long as it has a sata port and sata connector then yes, you can.

No, you can't, that CPU you have now is a Intel Core 2 Quad and AMD does not support Intel. Also you are running the ancient 775 socket. Instead of AMD, why not go Intel? They are more powerful and faster than AMD CPU's.

Thanks for your reply, any tips to get it cheaper?

I need to see a budget first, then I can generate a list.

Motherboard, CPU, and RAM. You could keep everything else if you want, but I have one more question. What is your case?

Really? The extremely powerful I7 4790K is equal to the 8350? I am not sure about that.. a FX 8350 OC'd to 4.5 ghz is capable of equaling a I5, not a I7. A I7 blows the 8350 out of the water.

Also, having a decent priced "board" is not at all what you need. You need to look at the power phases to regulate power output on the system, max DIMM slots, SOCKET amount of PCIE Lanes and if they run at x16. You need to look at the whole picture before buying just any "decent priced board."

I don't know my case model, but the dimensions are 46,5 cm x 19 cm x 44 cm

Can you see a logo on it?

Can you see a logo on it?

If not it is fine, the board I provided will fit in your case, but there might not be any USB 3.0 connectors on it so you can only use USB 2.0... I would recommend getting a new case :).

Hmm, my case doesn't support USB 3.0, and can you do a list for a cheapier price, because in my country internet shops have a little bit overpricing.

lol i never said they were equal. I'm just saying i play far cry 4 and shadow of mordor and get about the same frames on both cpus. So if your just gonna be gaming then get the cheaper amd. The fx8350 is also much better at streaming on twitch as well.

Encoding on Twitch and the like can be done so through any CPU as long as they can handle it. Twitch is mainly through Internet. People have twitched using I3's. A I5 can handle twitch just as good as a 8350 and has higher upgrade potential, as well as having less TDP and cooler temps, and stronger cores and the list goes on and on. As well the 8350 is on a dying socket, where as Intel is the more future proofed :p

If you shop through the links I gave you you won't spend to much. If not, recommend me a site you know that has cheap prices and I'll put a list together there.

That's strange. Yea I always thought that streaming was internet intensive, but on this old i3 computer that is connect using ethernet I can't stream worth shit. There's just so many factors in choosing hardware its ridiculous. I do like my i7 4790k, but all i do is gaming and my 8350 keeps up pretty well at less than half the cost.

Thanks for the answer, I just picked:
i3-4160
Kingston 4GB 1600Mhz
Gigabyte H81-M-SV2

Are these okay?
