GTX 970 vs GTX 780 TI vs R9 290X

Hey guys! So I don't know with which card I should go with. The GTX 970 and R9 290X cost the same (where I live) and from what I saw the performance is the same. The GTX 780 TI is about 100$ more, but if I'll be getting this one I will go with 8gb RAM instead of 16gb.

PS. If I go with GTX 970 or R9 290X, should I still go with 8gb and change some other components? Also, Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 or Asus Z97-A for overclocking?

I'm gonna get 8gb Ram instead of 16gb, a better mobo, better SSD and better version of the GTX 970.

Most games require only 4-6gb of RAM, and once I will need more I can just get two more 4GB sticks.
