Should I upgrade my processor now? Or save up for later?

I have an a8550 and I bought a 7870 2gb - which supposedly should run most of last gen easily and the beginning of this gen too?

BF4 was fantastic 1080p plenty of frames
Thief was awful...had to run it medium at 800p to get a decent amount of frames.

Last time I posted here I concluded was more my processor than my graphics card.

I have £100 I could spend now on my system would it be worth me getting the highest processor my current MOBO can handle? Which is the a10 6800k

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/312/AMD_A10-Series_A10-6800K_vs_AMD_A8-Series_A8-5500.html

These are the comparisons - but I don't really know in reality what those figures would REALLY do.

I've toyed with the idea of spening a bit more and getting an i5 and new motherboard but the numbers for that system will cost me twice as much now...and less results when compared to switching to the a10.

I have the inbuilt graphics for these processors switched off.

Should I spend £100 now will it get me through the next couple of years of next gen?

Or should I save up a bit more for a mobo and processor combo-and if so how much?

I'm wanting 1080p at high really....I use a 1080p projector for my PC gaming so it doesn't need to be higher - but the graphic detail within that is kind of important.

Getting an A10 is pointless, since you have an HD 7870. If you can afford more, go with something like this. You would then have an upgrade path to Broadwell, when they come out next year. ;)

Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£61.13 @ Amazon UK)
