Building XBMC SERVER HELP!!!

I want to build a server with movies and to able to join that server with xbmc, but im not really good at this things i just wanna try to build one, so my question is what is all that i need to build this server and join it from my android(xbmc app) whenever i am. my question is kind of noob but im too curious.

YOur outside access will depend a lot on your ISP' upload speed. If you are on e.g. DSL, your upload speed us usually less than 1Mbps - way to low for decent video.

Some guy made the effort to look after a bunch of DLNA servers. Depending on how you configure your network, most of them can be accessed from outside as well.

What OS are you going to put on that server? If you put (any) Windows, there are plenty of DLNA servers available which your XBMC can see. If you share the folders with media on that Windows box, you even don't need DLNA - XBMC can be configured to access Windows shares as well.

If you want to access your media from outside your home, that's completely different question, and XBMC is not going to help you there.

Yes, i want access from outside, i want to create something like navi-x addon, build server with movies and music and access it from anywhere, how hard it could be , what do i really need to make it.
