I am planning to install Zorin Core alongside my Windows XP OS. I want to keep Windows on the computer just in case I ever need to access it, but I don't plan to use it.

How can I set Zorin to load by default rather than having the computer boot in Windows or show the boot menu asking which OS to load?

Solution

Why even bother posting if you have obviously never dual booted a Linux/Windows system? This will not work.

OP refer to the Ubuntu documentation for dual booting. Zorin is basically a customized Ubuntu variant.

Specifically you just need to add the windows xp boot information to GRUB boot loader (which replaces windows boot loader).

Sorry that I post correct information instead of incorrect.

If you have dual booted Windows/Linux then you would know that you cannot simply add Linux to the windows boot list!
Especially true for where one would install Linux after Windows which during the automatic installation process completely replaces the windows boot loader with GRUB.

If you want to dual boot using the windows boot loader instead of GRUB you need to use a tool like EasyBCD to make chainloading with GRUB work.

Alright, let's knock off the bickering and keep the comments on topic.

@Paul NZ, personal attacks of the kind just a couple of posts above this one are a violation of the rules of conduct that you agreed to abide by when you created your account. Let's not see any more of that.
