Hey everyone. I just built a new computer for gaming, movies, and web browsing. I am looking to get a new monitor and I am interested in the realm of 120/144 hz refresh rate. I've read a bit about different models and it looks like we are kinda in the middle of some cool monitor tech. My current monitor is a 3 year old Gateway 24inch LED TN 2ms, so I don’t think I will mind a newer TN panel (with all the complaints of colour).
I'm curious if I should get a new 144hz TN monitor (like the ASUS VG248QE 24" 1080p 144Hz)or stick with my current 60hz monitor and upgrade my GPU in a few years and match with a better 144hz monitor. I would like to stay in the 1080p 24inch zone.

Build Specs:
Intel i5-4690K, haven’t overclocked as of yet
Corsair H80i cooler
EVGA GTX 760 4Gb (RMA for my 660 Ti SC)
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard
EVGA 750W supernova, G2
8Gb (2x4Gb) 1600 Mhz Corsair vengeance pro

I will be gone for the holidays and wont be able to do any benchmarking until the new year. But I think it will be able to push games past 60 fps.
Thoughts? Thanks and happy holidays!

Solution
I would stick with your current monitor, until you get a GPU that can push 120+ fps there isn't much reason to buy a monitor with the higher refresh rate.

Also if you wait there should be more options for 120+Hz IPS monitors, so you get smooth and pretty.
