Computer screen goes black for 1-2 seconds and it makes a short electric-like sound

I have been using my monitor with a VGA with absolutely no problems, but when I use a HDMI cable the screen just randomly goes black for a few seconds at a time.
Sometimes I get a flicker of a random window I have open with the same damn static sound. At other times, the image seems to be moved to the left for a fraction of a second.

I switched from VGA only today and I get this problem mostly when I watch videos on youtube (I am yet to try videogames).

I read other similar questions, and tried various fixes (like uninstalling graphic drivers and software and reinstalling, overclocking my GPU), but nothing worked..

It shouldn't be the cable's fault, because I have used it before with a television and the same PC and other laptops with no issues at all.

I have an Energon 750W PSU and a Radeon R7 200 GPU, with a BenQ GL2460 monitor, 2 GB DDR2, 500GB hard drive (S.M.A.R.T tests are fine), a really old Gigabyte GA-G31MX motherboard, all drivers up to date, Windows 7 x86 (I am also yet to test for this problem on a different OS, but will post here when I do).

Could you please give more details, like why would this mean my monitor is broken ? And why does it have problems with HDMI and not VGA ?

Also, as an update to my post - I have been using the computer for 2 hours now (watching 1080p 60fps youtube videos) and haven't had a single problem (works even better than before, after raising GPU power limit by 3%). All I did was to secure all cables in their place. Maybe the HDMI cable was slightly wiggled out of its port ? I don't know if it should react like this though..
