I am trying to decide how to buy the best gaming machine. The budget is around $16K. I already have the 4K monitor. Want to run the games on Ultra using the 4K monitor. Should I buy 2 X Titan Z's or quad GTX 980's. Should I wait for the 980's to come out with 8 Gb? I am concerned that the quad 980's won't really be much better than 3 980's and then there is a fps problem.

I would also suggest to wait.
5k and 8K are rumored to be comeing rather soon, so newer GPUs might also be significantly more powerfull.
(5K by DELL and 8K by LG).
With 16k you might want to split it into two groups of 8K, buy a 8K PC and save 8K for the next PC.
As far as i know 4k is still buggy and not really working too well, so waiting seems to be the best option.

Also please consider a good speaker/headphone system. For aroun 500 dollars you can get something quite decent, and after all audio is the other 50% of your gaming experience after visuals.
