Hi all I have come to the conclusion that anyone running a AMD3+ chipset or haswell chipset should not consider upgrading at this point in time.

Which brings me to my question. 14nm broadwell (6th gen haswell) or lg1151 Skybridge cpu in 2015???

Both chipsets will have better efficiency and higher clock speeds and will be released about the same time as each other in 1Q & 2Q 2015.

Broadwell is on same architecture as the i7 4790k and will run on the z97 motherboards.

Skybridge will be a new architecture that may be what will improve the future of ddr4 from the lga2011-3 chipsets. And also improve the performance of the new Maxwell gpu lines being introduced.

Looking for peoples thoughts and opinions, thoughts and what to look forward to and invest in 2015.

I think you mean skylake, not skybridge.

The change to 14nm will likely bring a 10% improvement in price performance if history is any guide. Intel will not release new products that are not sufficiently better than the old.

In you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.
When you have the need, it is time to buy, not wait.

It is strange that skylake appears to be coming so soon after broadwell.
I would be prepared for some delay in slylake .

@geofelt Skybridge is amd's sku which i believe is an apu or have they gone back to cpu's finally? Not much has been heard about it though i'd imagine it'll drop sometime soon assuming amd's 20nm gpus drop too. Though skylake is coming out later this year k series aren't coming out until 2016 and broadwell if you're into ocing is important get broadwell other then that which ever's your preference i'm not sure when skybridge comes out but it might be something big best choice is to hold off on building anything for now.
