Hello guys. I'm going to build a brand new computer and I am stuck on choosing the graphics card.

I was going to spend 380 Euros (£300) on a MSI GTX 970 because I've read many reviews online and a lot of people say it's the best option available at the moment.
But just a few hours ago I found the Gigabyte GTX 970 for only 300 Euros (£235).

I know both cards are very similar but the GBT one is noisier and consumes a bit more power and has a slight better performance. Size doesn't really matter to me since I'm getting a Full Tower Case (Corsair 730T) and the fact that the MSI one lacks a backplate doesn't bother me as well.

The problem here is the huge price difference, the noise and power consumption. I could invest the extra £75 on a better CPU (currently sitting on a i5 4690K) if I went with GBT but I want to keep my system as quiet as possible. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I can't speak for gigabyte, but I currently have the MSI gtx 970. It's a beast and performs well, I mean VERY well. I am not quite sure if the gigabyte (regular one) has the same OC potential as the gaming 1 edition. If it's the gaming 1 edition, I would say go for the gigabyte because everyone say's how much of a better OC it is. But IT'S A BIG card. Make sure it fits your case. Also, unless it's the G1 edition, the logo doesn't light up. MSI logo lights up, which is cool if you have a windowed case.

All in all, both the cards I think are awesome. But me personally,I love MSI products, and their customer service ain't quite that bad either.

I really like MSI's 0db feature and design. I've read on guru3d that both cards have equal noise levels and temps but GBT is just a bit more power demanding. In your oppinion, does the 80 Euro difference justify getting MSI over GBT?

The Gigabyte card is NOT any more power demanding than the MSI. The Gigabyte is capable of using more power, but unless you OC it, it will not use more power then the MSI. Only a complete and utter fool would waste 80 Euros on the MSI one when the GB is a PROVEN SUPERIOR card in terms of performance. The ONLY thing that could justify that would be if you have a Mini-Itx/Micro-Atx case that doesn't fit the G1

Yea, I'm going with the Gigabyte one, it is definitely more powerful and is as loud as the MSI card.

I will be playing and recording the latest games, such as AC Unity, Far Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto V. Would you consider using the remaining 80 Euros to get an i7 4790k or just stick with the i5 4690k? Bear in mind that I'll only be recording/rendering the gameplay for Youtube on a casual level, nothing too fancy.

I'd honestly recommend the FX 8350 if you are going to record, stream, and/or edit videos. It has more cores and threads which will be very useful for these things. i7s are only for people who do "fancy" (As you would put it) stuff. Hardcore video editing, 3d modelling animations, etc
