Hi Tom's Hadrware ! :)

This is my problem : In February 2014 we moved to another, smaller city. Hopefully we have slower internet connection. I always see the speed of downloading - 5,0 mb/s. But... when I really download something, there's only 400-600 Kb/s. Why is that? I'm using Google Chrome, and I don't download anything. And yes, I download through web sites, where is download speed enabled "without limit." So help me PLEASE

Solution

Connection speeds are measured in bits-per-second, while file downloads are measured in bytes-per-second.

1 byte = 8 bits

So a file downloaded at 600 kilobytes-per-second (kB/s) is roughly equal to a speed of 5 megabits-per-second (Mb/s).
