I have a windows 7 hp pavillion slimline with an amd processor and im having issues. Whenever i boot it up it starts to REALLLY lag and i check the resource monitor and my ram and physicle memory is fine but my gpu spikes to 100% and i dont know why. I dont have many junk files or programs and im pretty sure i dont have a virus. I cant afford a new computer or motherboard with a better gpu and no software i download to try to fix it seems to help. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!

Something I'd try just to rule out, is right click on the desktop, select Personalize and see if it is set to Windows 7 Aero theme. If so, try selecting Windows 7 Basic under 'Basic and High Contrast Themes' . The screen will flash grey for a second then reset with Windows 7 Basic visual theme applied. Reboot and see if gpu still spikes.

Aero can sometimes cause conflict with graphics that appear to be hardware or other software related. At least it will rule this out as a possibility. If it does resolve it, then just use Win 7 Basic theme.

It's worth a try.
