First off here's my specs
MOBO: Asrock z75 pro3
CPU: i5-3570k
PSU: OCZ zt 550w

So i recently added 2x4GB (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QBUL1C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) sticks of RAM to my existing 2x4gb sticks (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220705)

They are all in Dual channel slots

It seems to be working fine and my system shows that i have 16GB total but according to Speccy each of the Corsair stick has a max bandwidth of 667MHz compared to the Patriots 800MHz

So wouldn't that mean that the Corsair is actually operating at 1333MHz to Patriots 1600MHz.

Is it something wrong with the ram or did i hust happen to get the wrong ram sticks? The box says 1600 and so does the stick itself.

Solution
you need to go into BIOS and manually change the speed of the RAM. This is normal with most MOBO's that read all RAM at 1333mhz no matter the speed.

Splendid
Have you gone back into the bios and set the memory to 1600? Sometimes it will reset to defaults when it detects new memory.
As for the speed Speccy is showing...it may just be the default setting for the memory even though it's rated for 1600.

OK I've got the dram frequency set to 1600, but what about the xmp setting? I've only got 2 options Auto or XMP 1.3 profile 1

Also for future reference is this where I would go to oc ram? Because the frequency options go all the way to 2800

Use auto unless you plan to OC. And yes that is where you can go to manually OC your RAM.
