asus matrix r9 290x black screen when starting

So i just bought a new graphics card the Asus Matrix r9 290x i installed it and when i went to turn on the pc i got no signals on the screen, just a black screen.. it lights green where the pci-e cables goes and the republic of gaming logo is lighting blue. but it doesnt seem like its sending signals to the screen. and it doesnt turn on the keyboard or the mouse like it did before with my old graphics card when i turned it on.. what can i do to get it to work?

my pc specs

24gb ram
intel i7 3770k
650w chieftech
graphics card xfx 7970
new that i cant get to work.. r9 290x

Using the hd7970 to uninstall the GPU driver by Guru3D - Driver Sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html Shut down the PC, switch to the new r9 290x try to boot the PC, If the pc can boot into the window then reinstall the AMD catalyst driver. If you still get the black screen, that means the 650w chieftech can't not power up the r9 290x, because the r9 need more power.

it says on their website it used 350w at its heaviest load so i wouldnt think the psu would be a problem?

Whatever 350W or 400w, 500w, do you try to clear the catalyst driver by Guru3D - Driver Sweeper and reinstall the GPU driver?

yes i did, and nothing happened, just the same problem i had to begin with.

If ou can use the HD7970 with the 650w chieftech, but the PC doesn't have the display with the r9 290x, that means the 650w chieftech can't power the r9 290X, if you try update the BIOS and intel chipset driver.

yes, try updating your BIOS. 290X and 7970 have a similar TDP so power should not be a problem, especially upon startup. I'd suspect a DOA card. If nothing you do fixes it, just RMA it.

Dude I just had the exact same problem. Figured I just had to flip that littly tiny switch to sw1, just behind all the hdmi, dvi etc. etc...
