Should I return or take a chance?

So, I bought a Toshiba 1tb hard drive and a pny ssd. Then I read the reviews. The Toshiba says it dies after 6 months, the pny says it slows down to less then a HDD. After seeing this, I bought an Adata ssd. My question, is the quality with these drives so bad I should return them now, or is it worth installing them and using them? They still in the box, got both for $110 after shipping. I could get a WD HDD and use the Adata ssd.

Right. You found the 10 people who had a bad one, or abused it.

Newegg or Amazon reviews from users do not count. Independent tests are what counts.

User reviews should always be gleamed thru a skeptical eye, if you know what I mean. Often they are from people who dont really know what they are doing. Other its just a place to bash...

For a perfect example: Toshiba's drives are made by Hitachi. Yet the identical drive wrapped in a Hitachi retail box gets better reviews. Why is that ?
