Hello, I just finished building my first PC, but I'm having problems when using the internet which causes my PC to freeze, the mouse cursor doesn't freeze but everything else does. I am not sure if its because of the internet or network adapter or something else. I literally just installed windows 8.1 on my newly built PC, started my computer, and then installed the NVIDIA GTX970 drivers with the disc included with my GPU, successfully. After that I installed my wireless network adapter's drivers which I use since I am on a second floor and the router is on the first floor and at the opposite side of the house. I then connect to the internet, sometimes freezes when I simply browse the internet and sometimes freezes when i download something, the mouse cursor doesnt freeze but everything else does. I really am not sure what's the problem, any ideas of what is causing this is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Is there something I missed after installing windows 8.1 besides the GPU drivers and wireless network adapter drivers?

Solution
Get the drivers from the site if theyre later than the ones on the cd

That CPU needs BIOS 1008. So that maybe why its a bit unstable.

Core i7-4790K (4.0Ghz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, HD Graphic, 88W, rev.C0) ALL 1008

I am using internet explorer. I also just noticed that the fans on my GPU stop spinning after 30 secs of booting up my computer, i dont know if its meant to be that way, I am new at this.

I am not sure if the browser is up to date. The problem, I dont think is the browser because my computer also freezes when i simply connect to the internet without opening a browser, I dont know if its something about my adapter or something else. Would using an Ethernet cable make any difference?

The BIOS ver. is 0902. I will try to update the BIOS.
I installed the wireless drivers with the disc the adapter came with.
The router I am not sure what brand it is or how to check what type of router it is, it isnt dual band, my ISP gave me this router, which I am planning to replace next week. It gives me no problem when connecting to the internet with any other devices other than this PC im trying to fix but I was planning to replace it for a Wireless N dual band anyway.

It seems updating the BIOS solved my problem. I really appreciate it, I thought for a second it was going to be a hardware problem.
