I'm trying to view an IP camera from a computer which has to connect through a modem then a router to connect to the camera.

Diagram: [Incoming Connection]

[Computer to view camera from]---------------[Modem: Thomson TG585v7]

[Router: Netgear WGR614v7]

[CCTV]

The only way to view the camera right now is if the computer is connected to the Netgear router. It cannot be viewed if connected to the Thomson modem.

Thanks for help, if you have any questions please reply to this thread.

The Thomson TG585v7 is actually a modem/router combination device. If you don't configure the Netgear properly when connecting it, you will create two different subnets that can't communicate with each other.

You need to configure your Netgear to operate as an access point only. The cable from the Thomson must connect to a numbered LAN port (not the WAN or Internet port) of the Netgear. You need to log in to the Netgear and turn off LAN DHCP. Once done, you should reboot all devices. All devices will be on...

Normally a home network is set up like this:

ISP > Modem > Router > PC

Your diagram is a bit confusing. Why do you have the PC connected to the Thomson and not the Netgear?

My guess is that you likely need to configure your Netgear as an access point, as it's creating a separate subnet and not allowing you to access the IP cam.

To clarify the diagram, the PC is connected onto the Thomson where the incoming connection comes in. The router is for the other computers in the house where the modem cable cannot reach. The camera is connected to the router.
