Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration

We had just gotten a new modem, we switched from rogers, to telus, and now i cannot connect to the internet. It tells me when i troubleshoot i don't have a valid IP Config. And I have an unidentified Network, that isn't not longer in homegroup, but public. Help! Oh yeah, i have an ethernet cable attached
