We want to add internet service to our current Dish service. We have been told that if we can see the antenna tower we can get internet service on our current dish, otherwise we have to get another dish with all of the additional charges that go with it.

Obviously I wouldn't be asking a question if we can see the tower.

Is there another way to get the signal to our current dish using something like a repeater or a bridge on a pole located on our property?

We are on the southern tip of the eastern shore peninsula of VA - so there aren't many choices for internet service. I feel like that the distributor either wants the added profit or doesn't care enough to give us other options except ISDN (yeah, been there done that 15 years ago). Any advice would be helpful.

Not sure what antenna you are supposed to see. The Dish internet service is based on receiving a satellite signal. It also does need a dedicated dish.

"Does a dishNET Satellite installation take about the same time as a DISH video installation?

YES, A standard dishNET Satellite installation can take up to four hours to complete. This includes the installation of a specialized and separate dishNET satellite dish, equipment, and the required wiring."

Why would they add in a totally different service just for you if they don't have any other plans in your area? I did a bit of checking into how much it would cost to run a cablet internet connection to a building that did not have it and that was also not available in the surrounding area. Was about $50,000. And that was in a pretty crowded street with a ton of stores on it. I'm sure they are not just saying that you either need ISDN or satellite just because they don't like you and are lazy to do anything to help. Have you looked into a cell data service? If you can get 3/4G in your are on a cell phone, you can get a cell data modem and a router to use it with. Biggest issue there is that a large data plan is very pricy and the budget phone services either don't offer a plan for just a data modems and/or have a very bad data connection even if they show a solid connection.
