Windows XP Not Detecting My DSL Connection

I recently had my computer reformatted and had Windows XP Professional reinstalled. When I brought it home, I plugged in my ethernet cable and turned on the computer, but it will still not get an internet connection. The internet is working on my other computer that is connected, via a wired connection, but my new Windows computer will not detect that there is a local area connection plugged into the computer.
Help.

Windows doesn't even show that the ethernet is plugged in.

To download the ethernet drivers, you need to have your computer connected to the internet (ironic). As it turns out, you can use 3DP Chip to download the required drivers without an internet connection. You will only need an internet connection on another computer to download the 3DP Chip installer.
