Quick SLI/Crossfire Question

When running 2 GPUs in SLI or Crossfire on a motherboard with more than two pci express ports, do you have to put them on neighboring ports, or could I put them on the furthest apart ports to improve airflow? Thanks.

Your sli/xfire bridge wont be long enough if you put them further apart so no

well if they use the Crossfire or SLI cable than keep them close if not than it does not really matter

further apart is better but the slots you can use are determined by the length of your bridge if needed and the speed/lanes on the slots

It would be best to use the PCI express slots that are designed to run graphics cards. In other words you want to use two 16X slots or two 8X slots.

Ok so I just checked and my processor doesn't support enough lanes for 2 16x lanes even though the mobo supports it, so if I put them in crossfire in the 1&2 ports would it do 16X and 8X or would they both be 8X and is the performance difference significant?
