HI my name is Anthony and this is my first post on Tom's.

Currently i run a pc with Phenom II X4 955.

Im planning to build a new PC early next year.
I have been look at the Athlon 860k, although im not sure if this is a worthy upgrade.

I can get it for 73 Euro's however my budget can go up to 100, depending on the price/performance. Other cpu's i have been looking at are;

FX-6300
FX-8320 (30 euro's over budget, however price/performance ratio?) Also i have heard that this cpu's stock cooler is extremely loud so i would have to buy a cooler with it)
I3-4160

The PC will be mainly used for gaming, paired with a GTX 750 TI
heaviest games would be;
Dying Light
Tom Clancy's The Division

So would the 860k be a good choice for these games?
Other suggestions are welcome (please explain why).

The Fx-6300 is a good choice. It is a little faster than your current chip, and offers good value.

I personally like the FX8320 a little more based on its architecture of more cores, and the benchmarks, however it sounds like it is overbudget. On the other hand, if you keep your rigs for 4 years or so, I would recommend to give yourself a little more power so you don't outgrow it too quickly down the road.

Honestly. if you havent overclocked your phenom, I would go that route. It can last you another while and keep you going till AMD comes out with the 16nm finfet chips in 2016. That phenom overclocks very well and on the fx 6300 or 8320 overclocked would be a noticeable upgrade.

The athlon is more of a lateral move. The module architecture is inferior to the old phenoms. The athlons are more about efficiency, not performance.

I have had a great experience with the 6300 overclocked to 4.5. I am moving on to intel soon but not because my CPU ever let me down, 2nd best bang for buck CPU I have ever owned. 1st was an $89 Phenom II 960T that unlocked to a 6 core and still hit 4Ghz on air.

My Phenom however was build almost as soon as the phenoms came it, early 2010.
The stock cooler is dying and would have to be replaced.
My mobo is damaged at the back usb / sound entries, and my case is also not working on the front entries.
I would basicly be buying everything new except for the CPU.
Shouldnt i just get a new one?

Since you don't have your cpu overclocked and would have to replace to stock cooler anyway, I would go with the fx 6300. In mos't cases you can overclock it a little on the stock cooler (not recommended, but possible). It has a great price-performance ratio.
