help I'm looking to change hard drives

if i were to change my hard drive and does it mean i will lose my os and everything ?
and if I'm going to loose everything how can i back it up ?

If you have a desktop, you can install the new hard drive in next to the old one and then migrate. You will lose all your data if you don't back it up or migrate it. there are several ways you can migrate data. But is your old hard drive still functioning? If so, why are you changing it?
