Would it be ok or wise to add more memory to this build?

How much video editing will you be doing? Just a little bit or are you going to be doing things like cut commentaries with added effects? If you are going to be getting really into that then I would get 16gb of RAM. If you are just going to be doing a little bit of video editing then I would stick with 8. Is this a build you are going to be purchasing or is that just a build that you already have?

This is a build I am going to buy from newegg hopefully getting it shipped by 24th. I have been tweaking with help from others, have found Microsoft 8, and have monitor....
Now trying to find a case that is decent made, with good looks and build features.

Not a ton of editing now, just rendering and recording while game play is going on. Also plan to have 2 monitors in future. Thanks for any suggestions.

You know that you can't overclock with that CPU right? And your motherboard has overclocking capabilities... So you could either upgrade to a K series CPU or downgrade to an H series motherboard. Or you could keep it how it is and upgrade it later.

If you are ever going to go to 16gb of ram, it is best to do it up front.

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.
Although, I think the problem has lessened with the newer Intel chipsets. Still,
it is safer to get what you need in one kit.

And... 4 sticks makes it even more important that the sticks match. All ram must be managed by the cpu in the same manner. That is harder to do with 4 sticks vs. 2.

Buy a 16gb kit of 2 x 8gb.

Ok....now confused again (doesn't take much) what is the downside of a lesser motherboard to fit the i5 cpu? Is there one that would be a better fit?

How would a couple sticks of this memory be?

The downside would be no overclocking capabilities for a K series CPU. You could get the ASRock B85M Pro4 for $70. Personally I would go with a K model CPU with the motherboard you chose. Its better performance even without overclocking. You would also have to buy an aftermarket CPU cooler to overclock. It would cost about $40 more to be able to overclock

Excellent.

If not overclocking, will the k cpu run fine and cool with stock heatsink?

Just looked up the K CPU, looks like it will hurt my budget, trying to get a good build cheap as possible & still be fast for gaming and editing.

If you aren't overclocking then you can get the motherboard I mentioned earlier if you don't want to upgrade to a K CPU later.
