Hi,

I want to build home media server based on Intel i3-4130T CPU (35W TDP), I am looking for motherboard with following features:
- 2x RJ-45 (wake on lan)
- at least 6x SATA III
the rest doesn't matter (even form size).

Something like this has everything you need under 100$. It also has Wi-Fi!

Thanks for answer, I think that Z97 Extreme6/ac would be good enough but it also has features that I won't be using like: audio 7.1, wifi, is it possible to disable them in UEFI? Also on ASRock website I can only see drivers for Windows 7/8 (I'm gonna use Linux)

I decided to use one of Intel server boards, maybe S1200V3RPS? Now I am looking for SATA (or maybe SAS?) extension card (which interface?) and I am confused which one to use? I don't care about RAID because I won't use it, I just need more SATA ports.

I am going to use at least 9x WD Red 4TB HDDs (as I wrote before - without RAID) mainly for movies (Blu-ray copies 1:1). Stability and safe of data is my #1 goal.

OS: Linux with Plex Media Server.

You CANNOT attach four SATA drives to a tiny port like this:

Besides, using SATA drives in a SAS port requires special SAS/SATA hybrid drive, and even then, you gain no benefits by using SAS.

Again you didn't understand me ;) I can connect 4 SATA HDDs to a single SAS port ... using this reverse breakout cable ;) https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/components/peripherals/cables-kits/startech.com-50cm-sff-8087-to-4x-sata---internal-mini-sas-to-sata-reverse-cable-sas8087s4r50/
