i currently am using the stock fans that the heat sink came with.... but i want a bit more cooling for my i7 4790k... i am looking at a pair of noctuas for it but i would like to know what do you guys recommend...

Noctuas are really great fans. They are just very very expensive for fans. I would recommend Cougar fans. Get the ones with a Hydro-dynamic bearing. They are dead silent, cheap(er), and move a lot of air. Probably the best fans I've owned for general purpose. I would also recommend Koolance fans. Super cheap, a little louder, but move a ton of air.
