Computer crashing/BSOD When gaming

Hello, for the past month I've been having issues with my PC, it's a custom built PC (I'll post specs below). Most of the time the computer will simply shut off, and the LED lights will either stay on, and it will reboot shortly after or occasionally they will begin to flicker and the system becomes unresponsive, Switching off the psu is the only way to get it out of this state. My PC was built mainly for gaming and it usually happens under load. However it has begun being a more frequent issue, Sometimes it will reboot itself then shut down before it manages to boot windows.

On very rare occasions I will get a BSOD before the system shuts down/restarts. It reads 'SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION'.

Specs]

FX - 8320
AsRock 970 Extreme3 r2.0
ASUS R9 280 Direct CUII
Antec True Power Classic 750w
8 Gb Crucial DDR3 memory @ stock

I had my CPU OC'd to 4.2 ghz for approx 3 months, with a manageable max temp of about 60c. The temps have climbed slightly now to about 64c, even with the OC off (I set the cpu to default settings when the issue arose). I now get this issue every time I attempt to play a game, and occasionally when I have a few applications running at the same time, however this is particularly rare to see.

I'm glad to provide any other information on my situation, to further assist you in helping me find a diagnoses.

Thanks for your time.

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION is typically caused by mis-configured or outdated drivers. Since it happens when gaming, I would suggest removing all current versions of your graphics drivers and then go download the most up to date version and clean install them. Good luck.

EDIT: If this doesn't solve the issue, try updating all other drivers that you possibly can (I would recommend doing this regardless).

I've eliminated any chance of this issue being software related by doing a fresh install. The error has occurred twice since re install.
I was using a 6 socket power board to power everything I need to run my computer. I have decided to try moving my computer to a location where I can plug it into a wall socket on it's own. Since doing so I haven't experienced the same error however I'm still waiting to see if it starts happening again.

I need suggestions on how to diagnose what exactly this issue could be.

It could be that the strip you were using wasn't supplying clean power. I would run it from the wall for a bit more. Could be that is all the problem was. Hope it is really. Then it will simply be a matter of buying a better quality power strip.

I've ruled out the power board as an issue, It did it again plugged into the wall a couple of times now, I ran a Windows memory check to see if my RAM had anything to with the issue, During this check the computer crashed the same as always, however this time I got an error message upon reboot, notifying me that Windows was attempting to access a device connected to my PC when it crashed. I have begun the process of elimination, starting with my CD/DVDR Drive. It has been about 1 hour since the last failure and I believe I've discovered the issue.

Thanks for your input :)

Nice. Hope you get it all sorted out. While frustrating troubleshooting can be, it's a great feeling when you finally nail it down to that one specific component. Just hang in there and please let me know how things go. :)

It's been a few hours since I removed my CD/DVDR Drive, And I have not encountered the crash. I'm almost certain I've found the dud part now. Luckily enough we're in the digital media age, and I can probably go without a disc drive for some time.
