Hey guys,
I was wanting to ask you guys how big power supply I should get, what rating (bronze, gold etc) and what type (I have no idea about types of PSU)

I'm wanting to build a computer with these parts:

tl;dr - what type of PSU for i7-4790k + Gigabyte gaming GTX 970 4Gb

Thanks guys, feel free to comment about any other parts!

A few less watts but higher quality and still plenty for what you have.
If this is for gaming you could save some money in places and see no real performance decrease.
That processor also runs hot with the stock cooler so you really need to get a decent aftermarket cooler, I would get memory that is 1.5 volts not 1.65 and for gaming 8GB is all you need.
Your also way short on storage you will fill that SSD up really fast with just the OS, programs, and a couple of games.
That case is not really what I would be looking at the video card will just fit if their specks are right 3mm to spare.
For a gaming PC this is more like what I...

Hey Zerk,
What reason would you want to get 1.5v rather than 1.65? My understanding was that you don't want to get RAM with increased voltage unless its over the 1866 mark in which case its expected. I think you have a point, I might go 8Gb and upgrade later if I need to

Intel's memory controller is inside the processor Intel recommends 1.5 volt memory.
This is not saying you can't run 1.65 volt it's just more volts than they recommend.
For gaming your going to see no performance difference in the memory and this would be the same switching from the i5 and i7.
The i7 shows very little to no performance increase in gaming but it does have a higher turbo clock speed but a simple overclock on the i5 and it performs about the same for a lower price.
