I'm looking to build a new gaming PC. It's been about 6 and a half years since my last one:

Here's what I'm looking at for the new build:

I picked the CPU and GPU from Tom's Hardware's "Best X for the Money" articles. I picked the rest by looking for decent reviews / minimal price. I don't really care about future proofing (I'm still using my 2008 build exactly as the image shows) or over-clocking and I don't need much in the way of features on the motherboard.

I have two questions:

  1. ■ Do the components look like decent enough choices? Are there any alternatives I should consider?
    ■ Is my current Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU was enough to power the new PC?

Solution
He is not overclocking because he has a locked CPU. OP, stick with the board you have.

Your setup looks great to me. The RAM is perfectly fine. It is quite good.

Where do you live? (What area?) If you live near a micro center, you could get an i5 4590 for 160 (plus tax). If youre overclocking, you could get the MSI z87 micro atx gaming motherboard for the same price as the one you have on newegg. If you have a higher budget, you should get a GTX 970, totally worth the cash. Just check to see if these parts are compatible. Also, I heard unified ram is good. It will allow for better performance and will give more room for ram slots. I think your PSU will be enough but check pcpartpicker just in case.
