Bios detects 8GB Ram; Windows only 6GB.

Motherboard: GA-78LMT-USB3
BIOS: Rev5.0
RAM:Crucial Ballistix BLS2C4G3D169DS3CEU Sport XT 8GB (4GBx 2) 240 Pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit
........................................................................................................................................................
Windows Index: 6GB (4GB usable)
Task Manager: Total Physical Memory 4GB (2GB reserved)
BIOS: 8GB
CPUZ: 8GB

Do I need to re-install Windows 7 64bit? Do I need to reset BIOS? I feel like smashing my head into a wall because I can't find any solution.

I have no idea. I assume it must be that since it says hardware reserved.

However I haven't seen anything on BIOS to disable that share.

Checked it with memtest. Nothing so far.

The ram is on slot 1 and 3 (both blues).

Hmm, can you screen shoot your taskmanager thingy?

Yes and switched the slots as well.

Have already done that.

Bios has the right RAM, even CPUZ same thing.

Now Windows says 6GB RAM so 2GB be reserved for hardware shit. Then again Task Manager shows total physical memory to be 4GB RAM and then shows Commit MB (1718/8156). And funnily enough when I used Crucial Scan it showed me 4GB Slot + 2GB Slot.

My only explanation is that I have done something that has fucked up the Windows version and somehow it acts like a 32bit.

One person posted,

"The motherboard does not have any kind of XMP feature which automatically sets the memory parameters to encode higher-performance memory timings. Leaving the Memory Clock at [Auto] sets memory to conservative SPD (Serial Presence Detect) settings. To run the memory at 1600MHz frequency would require you to manually set the Memory Clock. Manually setting DRAM Timings, and Dram Voltage would also be advised.

The BIOS:

Set Memory Clock
Determines whether to manually set the memory clock. Auto lets BIOS automatically set the memory clock
as required. Manual allows the memory clock control item below to be configurable. (Default: Auto)

Memory Clock
This option is configurable only when Set Memory Clock is set to Manual. Options are: X4.00, X5.33,
X6.66, X8.00

(Note) This item is present only when you install a CPU that supports this feature

You would need to manually set the memory clock to [X8.00] for 1600MHz, [X6.66] for 1333MHz.
DRAM Timing are the first three or four settings starting with CAS# latency".

and the people in here posted successful results,

http://www.overclock.net/t/1381497/can-an-gigabyte-ga-78lmt-usb3-run-1600mhz-ram-or-only-1333

Also the motherboard does support 1600,

Will certainly do. What was interesting with that QVL list is that every other RAM that went above 1600 it would be "down to 1600" so 1600 is the OC.

I am still positive I need to re-install Windows 64bit because it says usable 4GM out of 6GB and that tells me it acts like 32bit. Maybe I fucked it up trying to upgrade it from Home to Pro or whatever.

Reposting,

"The reinstallation corrected the problem! It is NOT normal to have 2GB of 6GB reserved in a 64-bit; it IS normal if your prior OS was 32-bit"

Man I have been trying to figure out what is going on for 7 hours now.

I even disabled my IGX to see if that RAM was going to my onboard video card but still the same.

So it must be the fact that I have to clean install Windows; if not I will cry.
