So I have a "low power" build on my hands.

Currently have a :
Corsair 450watt psu powering:
AMD APU10-7800 (65W) on a asrock mITX mobo
sapphire R7 260x GPU (TDP 115W)
1x 7200 5.25 drive
1x 120gb ssd
and the usuals like 1x case fan and 2x 8gb ddr3 1333 chips

Now that gpu says a 500watt psu is required but what goes into determining that requirement? I feel like im safe with the 450 but just wanted to get some pro thoughts. Is the 500watt requirement just a broad estimate thinking that most people buying the r7 would be building a true gaming rig? I game maybe one day a month, just bought the card as a nice to have when I do game. thanks!

Solution
We usually look at the components thermal design power, or TDP to determine how many watts it is using at max output.

APU10-7500 TDP is 65 W
R7 260X TDP is 115 W
Rest of system typically 100W
Then about 150 W is good for headroom

So that system would do well on a 430W PSU
