I purchased a 120GB SSD a couple of years ago to use for my Win 7 OS. It resides in my PC alongside a 1TB SATA hard drive. Lately I've been pushing the storage into the red on the SSD. I've cleared out as much as I can, and have run WinDirStat to weed on storage-hog files where possible. The visual indicator for C: is back down into the green again, but I know it won't be for long.

I've thought about purchasing a larger SSD to replace my current one, also thought about moving the program files location to the larger SATA drive to ensure enough space for the OS on the SSD. Then mostly just Windows OS files would be on the SSD.

Recommendations?

120GB should be enough.

As said above, you need to look at what is using most of the space such as downloaded videos etc and move to HDD or delete. In the mean time you can do the following (Google for how if needed):

1) Set your PAGEFILE max and min to 2GB

2) Disable Hibernation (so you have no Hiberfil using space)

3) Any GAMES should be moved to the hard drive.

a) non-Steam games. Delete and reinstall to the HDD (i.e. under "E:\Games")

b) STEAM.
1) Move the entire "Steamapps" folder over to the HDD under "Steam temp"
2) Delete Steam
3) Install Steam to "E:\Steam" (if "E" is your HDD)
4) Move the Steamapps folder from the Steam temp folder and replace the new one
5) Reboot
