Do you need a sound card on your pc to hear sound?

Solution
No, I don't believe the HERO comes with wifi.

As for sound card, you may be misunderstanding me. A sound card is the electronics that power speakers/headphones. You will still need to have speakers or headphones regardless of whether or not a motherboard has integrated sound built in. The HERO has excellent built in sound, you just need headphones or speakers to plug into it.

All modern motherboards have integrated audio these days, so the answer is 'No'. You do, however, have to have speakers plugged into the audio jacks (either that or use headphones with a 3.5 mm jack or USB, but they may need drivers and/or configured first)

The headset will use the integrated sound on the board. The sound card does not have speakers, it is simply the chip that converts a digital audio signal to analog for playback. You need either speakers or a headset to actually hear the audio. Either or both is fine. With both, you will hear the audio through the headset when it is plugged in. When you unplug it, the sound will play through the speakers. Hope that clears things up.
