So what I have is a majority of parts listed (only thing I don't have is Hard Drives/SSDs).

I want to know if this setup would be decent, and/or worth picking up. ~Already have the Motherboard, but all other parts I still need to order and are open for change.~

Base Components:
Motherboard - ASRock Z97 Extreme6 LGA 1150 Intel Z97
Processor - Intel Core i7-4790K
Heatsink - Cooler Master V8 GTS (Mostly for the looks, but if it's a bad heatsink let me know.)
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)
PSU Supply - Seasonic SS-660XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 660W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply

"Other Components":
Case - Rosewill THRONE-G-Window Gunmetal Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case
GFX Cards - ASUS ROG STRIKER-GTX760-P-4GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 760 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Thinking of picking up 2x of the GFX cards and running SLI. I have a few questions about that though.
1) Is the GeForce GTX 760 still a good card for gaming?
2) Do they work well in SLI mode?
3) I was reading up on running two graphics cards and an M.2 SSD on this motherboard, and it mentioned that it would be in a x8/x4/x4 configuration. My question would be how this configuration would effect the SLI mode, and how it would effect gaming?
4) Also if it would be better to have SLI or to just stick with a single graphics card? (Little background on what I would be using it for. General internet usage, FB, Google searches, chat rooms, shopping, ect, some small Steam games, League of Legends, Diablo III, and other similar games.)

For hard drives I want to get 1x 250GB SSD for a windows boot drive, 1x 60GB M.2 for a Linux boot drive, 2x 2TB HDDs as my data drives (setup in RAID1), and a USB 3.0 2TB as a backup drive.
Any suggestions on what Drives I should get? I'm partial to WD for HDD but open for other suggestions, and leaning towards Samsung/Sandisk for my SSD but also open for other suggestions, and I have no clue on M.2 cards.

Thanks in Advance to anyone willing to help me, or even take the time to read this Wall-o-Text,
David Allen

Ok well i tought about it but at 2k budget i would return your current motherboard and do this. and if you have microcenter nearby that CPU is $300 in store pickup

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($374.75 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($64.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($233.74 @ Amazon)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($193.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM...
Ok well what is your total budget and i can give you a suggested build based on the motherboard you already have. as for SLI always try to not do SLI single card will always run better and have less issues than 2 so like gtx 970 would be better choice than 2x 760

Some notes on your build choices.

A. An I7 provides very little to no increased gaming performance above an I5. So unless you plan to do some sort of content creation like video editing, stick to an I5.
B. The Coolermaster V8s are VERY overpriced for the performance they provide. Do you plan to overclock seriously?
C. 8GB of RAM is MORE than enough for ANY normal usage, pretty much the same thing applies as the I7 vs I5 debate.

1. The GTX760 is a decent card, but at your budget, you can do better.
2. Depends on the game.
3. X4 mode would cause a bottleneck on the secondary graphics card and impact your FPS very hard.
4. DEFINITELY prefer a single card above 2 lower end card, there is an exception or two, but in general single card is better.

Suggestions.
Get a single GTX970.
Use Samsung or Crucial SSDs, Sandisk is dodgy sometimes. Same goes for M.2 SSDs, Samsung or Crucial.

If you want more accurate suggestions, then it would be best if you give us your budget and where you live/what retailer you are using.

My budget is around but hopefully below $2000.

Would an I5 work well with blender/Photoshop (Now that I think about it, I'd like to get back into some graphics editing, but nothing to serious.)

As for the RAM I still want dual channel so if it's not as needed I could drop it down to 2x4GB sticks.

An I7 and 16GB would definitely benefit you in Photoshop and Blender, more so with the I7 than the 16GB RAM, depending on what you are editing, so I guess if its within budget, sticking with I7 and 16GB of RAM makes sense.

2000$ is A LOT. :D
You can pretty much fit 2 GTX970s in that budget.

I have been wanting a good gaming computer since I got out of high school back in 2010. By now it's go big or go home. I have the money to pick up a couple of parts a month (and cover bills, food, and everything else). Just now it's what to get.

Plus I have a friend building a computer at the same time as me, He however went to college for photoshop, and 3d rendering so I know he'll need an I7, mine will be just helping him out (I took a few basic classes) and working on projects with him, along with gaming.

@Esco_sid Wow, that setup look beastly. Sadly I live in the northwest, and don't believe there to be a microcenter near by.
I was tempted to go with a 99 series chipset and DDR4 ram, but at the same time I am timid about it. Mostly because it's the newest thing, and I've never had luck with newest anything. I'll have to check out the return policy of my Mobo. Picked it up around black Friday.
